Hmm.
by capsaicin - Sep 9th 2004 08:33:43
First off, I love this theme. Much better than any of the GTK/KDE themes
I've encountered thus far. There are just a few problems.
I cannot move the iconbar from the bottom left corner. I tried editing
the .../buttons/buttons.cfg file, and it didn't move. I cleared the cache
and restarted enlightenment, and it still didn't move. I tried moving it
with both the X ORIGIN and X ABSOLUTE params - nothing.
Also, I've encountered a similar problem while trying to edit the commands
the buttons execute. I make the changes, save them, clear all caches, and
still nothing changes.
I'd also like to change the images on the bar, but I'm not sure how to go
about doing this.
Also, I have some questions about the GTK themes and borders.
1) I have the aqua GTK theme installed (I was using it in GNOME before I
switched to enlightenment) but I have no idea how to tell enlightenment to
use it.
2) The borders of windows (not the titlebar at the top, but the borders
around the sides and bottom) are nonexistant. Is there any way to change
this?
3) When I run KDE apps, everything is ugly because it uses the default QT
theme. Is there any way, similar to GTK, to have it use a KDE theme for
KDE apps?
Also, maybe this is off topic, but can anyone tell me how I can make
certain apps start automatically with enlightenment? (gkrellm, gaim)
Anyway, great job with the theme!

Moving that darn ICON_BAR around
by LordPhantom - Mar 25th 2004 07:39:42
I see lotsa posts about moving the iconbar around... many are a bit old,
hopefully this will shed some light -
To accomplish this, you must do the following:
Edit ...../aquatheme(orwhateveryou'venamedthis)/buttons/buttons.cfg
Look for the button sections that look like
__BUTTON __BGN
__NAME ICONBAR_MOVIE
__ICLASS ICONBAR_MOVIE
__ACLASS ICONBAR_MOVIE
__KEEP_ON_TOP __OFF
__X_ORIGIN 0
__Y_ORIGIN 0
__X_PERCENTAGE 0
__X_ABSOLUTE 452
__Y_PERCENTAGE 1024
__Y_ABSOLUTE -64
__USE_SIZE_OF_IMAGE __ON
__MAKE_STICKY __ON
__SHOW_BY_DEFAULT __ON
__END
__BUTTON __BGN
__NAME ICONBAR_EDIT
__ICLASS ICONBAR_EDIT
__ACLASS ICONBAR_EDIT
__KEEP_ON_TOP __OFF
__X_ORIGIN 0
__Y_ORIGIN 0
__X_PERCENTAGE 0
__X_ABSOLUTE 516
__Y_PERCENTAGE 1024
__Y_ABSOLUTE -64
__USE_SIZE_OF_IMAGE __ON
__MAKE_STICKY __ON
__SHOW_BY_DEFAULT __ON
__END
This is a listing of where each button will display... you can adjust each
X_ABSOLUTE (in increments of 64, as each icon is 64x64) to where you would
like the icon to be on the screen... the same is appropriate for the
Y_ABSOLUTE value (if you'd like it vertically oriented). You can modify
all of them that way, or if you like their orientation, you can simply
modify the X or Y origin points to reflect where you want the taskbar to
start.
Once you're done positioning the bar, make sure to clear the cache (read
the posts below to learn how to accomplish this) and restart E.... problem
solved!
:-)
Hope this helps

i need some help, please
by ccyanescens - Oct 20th 2003 22:39:42
I've just started using Linux and I'm running Mandrake 9.1 (2.4.21-0.13mdk
if that helps). I downloaded and untarred the Aqua files but I don't know
exactly where to put them. I've looked everywhere for an
'enlightenment/themes' directory but there doesn't seem to be one. I have
the default themes available (from the themes menu), but I couldn't find
where these were either.
Can somebody please help?
Thanks, and your help is much appreciated.

Simply rename the .tar.gz to .etheme, and put it in your
.enlightenment/themes directory.

Help installing
by galukalock - Feb 4th 2003 00:27:17
I installed Aqua (duh), but there are no close/minimize/maximize buttons.
Just a gray border about 20 pixels thick. Also, the dock (great feature!)
is pinned to the bottom-left corner instead of center. Oh yeah, and my
epplets are stuck under the toolbar in the top-left.
I love Aqua, and was hoping someone would port it to Linux, and then you
came along :-)

Found out the problem. The directories referenced in
[aqua]/borders/borders.cfg file which are all capital do not match the
actual directories' names, which are mostly all-lowercase. To fix, rename
all directories in [aqua]/borders to all capitals (same letters), with the
exception of 'common'; or change the appropriate references in
[aqua]/borders/borders.cfg to lowercase letters.
I still think Aqua is GREAT!!

I'm having the same problem, but everything looks correct in the way that
borders/borders.cfg is configured - capital letters only for all
directories except common, and this matches with the layout of the
directories. Is there anywhere else I should be looking?

As said earlier, either change the directories to all Uppercase or modify
the configuration files (borders.cfg, images.cfg) to match the case of the
directories.

Men, you've really amazed me! Great thing!!! Graphics is perfect but the
borders... well, it seems windows does not
have them at all! It is not very comfortable to watch two overlayed
windows with same background both.
Is it possible to enable borders (or change their thickness)?
And, BTW do you have Mac OS X installed ? ;-)

hey. Love the theme, but the dock doesn't work for me. I don't have all

~/.enlightenment/themes/Aqua/buttons/actions.cfg file to make the buttons
launch apps that I did have, but when i saved the file, and restarted E,
the buttons did the same old thing. I checked to see whether the file had
saved my changes, and it did, but the buttons still launched the phantom

I had this problem too. I tried to do various things to get it to work
and discovered that I needed to clear the cache.
To do this, go to the main menu (middle mouse button on the desktop,
but you knew that already) and under the maintenance submenu choose “clear
all caches," and restart Enlightenment. Enlightenment will be forced to
re-read the configuration data in the theme package again, and will read
your updated configurations.

cd to ~/enlightenment/themes/aqua (or whatever you've named the dir for
this theme)
Open up "buttons.cfg"
Comment out line 3 so the file looks like:
#include

Use Alt-Right click to change border style.
You can also use "Remember" function to remember which border style you

You can change the mouse cursor by editing

Drag Bar

This is the best theme I ever wanted, at least for me.
Consider I always want to have Mac OS X but I don't want to have a good
GUI without SMP power running Linux so this is definitely the best damn
thing.
However I have some question though.
Here the situation, I have some popup windows of java program for tracking
stock that always underneat the drag bar, so I always have to maximize the
windows first before I'm able to move the windows around.
Is there anyway that I can modified the drag bar to be always on the top?
So if some windows popup it sure will popup on the desktop area nor
underneat the drag bar.

Re: Drag Bar
by N/A - Jan 26th 2000 10:18:32
Thanks for the support. The dragbar problem can't be worked out by theme
design. I think that is something to do with Java trying to figure out
the window size. I don't have a good solution to this, perhaps you can
submit this as a bug report to Rasterman, and see what he says about this.
I suggest you to use Alt-Left mouse click to drag your Java window below
dragbar, then you don't have to maximize the window.

Good start
by N/A - Jan 24th 2000 11:59:40
Not a bad start -- Though I've got to admit a couple things are driving me
nuts.
First -- the Aqua.etheme file isn't put together correctly. Everything
ends up in Aqua/Aqua/...
Second -- Is there a way to iconify a window?
Third (O.K., I lied about it being a couple of things) -- The title bar
tooltip indicates right-clicking iconifies. It doesn't.
Fourth -- I'd suggest making the clear titlebar button a winops menu,
rather than a move handle. You can already move the window by dragging the
titlebar. It doesn't really need a "special" place for that.
Eterm automode and epplets would be cool, too.
All in all, though, nice work.

Re: Good start
by N/A - Jan 24th 2000 16:48:25
Depends on the way you like to untar things. I like to untar the files and
let the tar file create directories for me. However, if more people
demanded to tar without the first subdirectory. I will do so. The clear
button is used to resize windows aka twm's resize button. Right click on
it, it will become sticky. Perhaps, I should use another mouse icon when
focus on it. The mouse icons have different meaning than BlueSteel icons.
Yellow button, right click should iconify the window. Right click on the
title bar will lower the window aka FVWM.
I will look through the theme and make sure tooltips are shown properly.
I will update Eterm automode tonight, epplets are already enabled. If you
like to access the menu holds Alt and click anywhere of the window. I
rarely use the menu, therefore, it is designed this way. You can always
customize the theme to suit your personal usage. The screenshot shows all
the widgets of the theme. I don't really use the theme this way, I don't
even use icon box because I use the task list on the top right. Then
again, it's your personal perference that will make this theme work for
you.

If you like having the theme untar then name the file Aqua.tar.gz. By

the directory itself.

Haven't looked at your new version yet, but there was definitely something
wrong with the themeball layout. I *don't* untar themes -- I let
Enlightenment do it. However, Aqua ends up with an extra subdirectory if I
do that, and nothing works.
You shouldn't have to untar the themeball at all -- but in the case of
this theme, I had to because it wasn't laid out right.
