Great Engine
by N/A - Mar 18th 2001 15:17:10
This engine is great, especially when you import well-hinted fonts. More
people will download this theme if they knew that is was actually an
engine, since there are a lot of pixmap based stuff and most people shy
away from them.
Just one question. Did you do this from scratch or modified a existing
engine?

Thanks for the comments. I too shy away from pixmap themes because of the
performance, that's why I made this an engine. The performance of this
theme is pretty good, but I should probably pre-compute the radio buttons,
they flicker just a bit.
To answer your question, yes I did modify from an existing engine actually
my "Flat" theme engine, which was modified from "Metal". As you can see
though, they are so different that it might be considered a full rewrite.
It took quite a while to get to this point, and it was sitting on my
computer for quite a while and not changing, so I decided to release it.
There is still some work to be done though.

I like this theme a lot (and your Flat theme is also great). One thing --
I have experienced a few crashes with this theme in Galeon -- I think it
has to do with the notebook tabs.

Yeah, it's a really nice engine, but that annoying tab-problem makes it
hard to use for me... =(
Whenever I open a tab in MozillaFirebird it crashes on me... =/
Is there maybe an updated version available?? =)

Using this theme engine... how?
by N/A - Mar 17th 2001 22:14:42
Hi,
Sorry if this is a trivial question, but after compiling and installing
this engine, how can I "select" it to use it?

If you have gnome, go to the control center, click on the "theme selector"
item and then choose "QN-X11" from the list of themes.
If you don't have Gnome it appears that you can create a .gtkrc file in
your home directory and put something like:
include "/usr/share/themes/QN-X11/gtk/gtkrc"

It's just that I don't see it in the gnome control center...
Oh, I just found it; I had to move the themes files from
/usr/local/share/themes to /usr/share/themes/
Thanks!

Or you could just have done a "./configure --prefix=/usr && make && make
install"
