About:
BasicGNOME is a clean, basic theme for GTK+ and Metacity. The GTK+ theme is loosely based on the SmoothGNOME theme, and the Metacity theme was written from scratch. The GTK+ theme uses variants of GNOME HIG colors, and the Smooth engine. The Metacity theme uses GTK+ to draw all boxes and bevels, and uses GTK+ colors for everything, so it will almost perfectly match any GTK+ theme. The Metacity theme's XML is also heavily commented and formatted to be easily readable, so it is a good example theme for anyone wanting to get started learning how to write a Metacity theme.
