[»] Gbeep
by Christian W. Zuckschwerdt - Feb 17th 2001 08:38:50

If you have Gnome be sure to have a look at GBeep. It's doesn't depend on X and replaces the linux console bell also. Though a Linux Kernel Module (LKM) is needed.

Thank you for the information. Fortunately, FancyBell theoretically does not depend on any kernel :). With an Xkb-aware application, it will also be able to ring different "bells" on different events in a unified manner like Windows does. It is the merit of using the Xkb extension, I think.

Since that is an important feature GBeep defaults to compile with Xkk now. The LKM is optional.

      Thank you for your efforts!
