[»] 1.2
by Tobbe Eek - Aug 12th 2003 10:22:38

I checked out the latest version and it's very nice!
I also played around some with the transparency which I haven't tried before. It looked good but was quite slow, but I think I liked the menus better with no transparency anyway... I found a nice little proggie that let's you create an OSX-like menubar that works in Fluxbox (although it's for Gnome):
http://www.pycage.de/software_gdesklets.html

Only problem is that it fscks up the graphics in your theme by showing 4 instances of each bead! =P
Don't know if it's a problem with Fluxbox or with gDesklets...

I've had that happen randomly with Fluxbox without running gDesklets, but if that app causes a constant repeating effect then it may help track down the problem. Please post about this in the Fluxbox Bug forum (http://sourceforge.net/projects/fluxbox/).

      Yeeah!
This problem seems to be fixed in the latest Fluxbox development version (0.9.6pre1)!

Cool. Also the transparent menus are a lot quicker, and being worked on in 0.9.6-pre2. The nvidia driver Option Renderaccel "True" should also help a lot with the latest drivers now too.

Thanks very much. An update (1.1) will be out soon, and improves a few niggly things. Please keep the suggestions comming.

I think you should change menu.hilite.textColor from black to something like grey94. This would make the highlighted choice much more outstanding and more pleasant to look at. I also think the you should change menu.frame.color from #FFFFFF to grey94 because if the menu is opened over a program which uses a white background, the menu gets hard to see... Or maybe it's because I like to run the windows with no borders around the windows, like this: bevelWidth: 0 borderWidth: 0 handleWidth: 0 frameWidth: 0 Anyhow, this is a great skin! Keep up the good work! =)

Have you got 1.1? Because I set
        borderColor: #DEDEDE
which gives a 1px light grey border around all menus so you can see them over white backgrounds. :-)

I've never used native Aqua so I dunno if the text highlights like that, but it's a nice idea.
I was wondering if I should change the stuck icon from a central dot to just a darkened bead?

          by Tobbe Eek - Jul 27th 2003 07:47:29

Aaah... then it's just me, since I don't use any borders... =)
I don't think it's wrong to enhance the theme over native Aqua, if at all possible. But that depends on whether you're trying to really mimic OS X or if you just want the goodies. However, in screenshots I've seen from OS X, the mimimize/maximize/close buttons are to the left in the window (but maybe that's possible to change in OS X...?) and there is no sticky button at all. Though I like it better with the buttons where they are right now in your theme... I would find it frustrating if they were to the left. =)
I guess I've never experienced a 'stuck' window with your theme since I've never seen the blue bead in use... I like the way it looks though, so if there is a use for it I think you should keep it.

Yeah, moving the buttons would be irritating, and that's in ~/.fluxbox/init anyway, not the theme, so I leave that up to the end user. :-)

The blue button was me trying to make buttons, and the current stuck hint is the dot which appears in the clear glass bead. I dunno if this looks bad to most, and if they'd prefer a darkened bead or something. Colouring wouldnt work with the way all beads loose colour when the window isnt focused.

I need to request an .unfocused.pressed. pixmap option, notice the focused border is always shown with the button if one's pressed.

I think you should remove the /home/paul/ parts in the theme file, it would make it easier for the newbies.
And if you remove the window border it looks so much better.
Other than that good work i love this theme.

I've tried ~/.fluxbox and $HOME/.fluxbox but it doesnt seem to work. Only an absolute path (/home/paul/.fluxbox) seems to be accepted. :-( I've made a few tweaks, I didnt like the raised non-focused window titlebars, and I uncommented the last few lines after seeing their effect in the stable 0.1.14 Flux release. FluxAqua1.1 should be out soon.

[»] Christ, what's with this thing?!
by Proud like a god - Jul 23rd 2003 10:47:28

My 0.91 release still isn't out the way to let me put 1.0 up for pending. You guys are totally being screwed by this system, the 0.5 release sucks compared to 0.91+. :-(

Announcements are often processed within a few hours, but this is not always possible. The submission form asks you to please give us 24 hours. Your 1.0 release has now been processed. Hopefully, not too many people died as a result of the delay.

Thanks, and sorry for the added stress. I was just seeing hundreds of hits reaching a substandard release and unable to get the finished theme online.

Did I miss some obvious text intro to this project system? Coz I was stumbling about in the dark a bit, with expected form fields hidded on the second steps, etc.

[»] use
by Talmahdraig - Jul 22nd 2003 19:41:37

How are the pixmaps supposed to be used? I take it this isn't just a straight fluxbox style. toolbar.windowLabel.pixmap: ~/.fluxbox/pixmaps/fluxaqua/aquatitle.xpm for example doesn't do anything and I can't find any fluxbox documentation for the .pixmap options? Is there a patch?

Ok, my 0.91 submission to sort most of this all out is still pending (I'm new the Freshmeat project management system). Atm the downloadable file is still the old 0.5 which lacks so much.

I've just downloaded the Fluxbox DocBook(http://fluxbox.org/docbook/) so I can check every style item with a fine toothed comb to finish it off, so the items should be flawless.

I wish you guys could get the half decent 0.9 release. I havent received a reply to my email to the admins, and they've had all of an afternoon and evening in the US to at least delete my empty 0.9 submission.

I'll have 1.0 done today and hopefully submitting that will fix everything, as long as my 0.91 isnt still pending. Sorry about all this.

FYI This is a pixmap theme, for the 0.9.x development releases.

toolbar.windowLabel.pixmap deals with the toolbar colour behind the window title listings, or if your toolbar mode is to only show icons or none.

I just tested all the pixmap options today and added helper comments. Details are scattered in the NEWS files of the 0.9.x releases iirc.

[»] Minor submission screw-up
by Proud like a god - Jul 22nd 2003 14:11:12

I seem to have make a 0.9 release which links to the old 0.5 file. A new 0.9 release seems to be pending as usual now, sorry for the mix-up.
