Buffer Overflow attack on gnomeICU version 0.96.1
by Synaptic - Mar 3rd 2001 21:34:19
I have recently recieved messages through my ICQ
account from a person using the 'Personal
World-Wide-Pager' available at www.ICQ.com
The messages were part of a buffer Overflow attack
which would crash gnomeICU and run shell commands.
The person sending the messages knew Exactly what
they were doing.
I am using gnomeICU version 0.96.1
Xfree86-4.01 on debian2r2
If anyone else has any information reguarding this
I would appreciate a responce.

archives apprently corrupted
by Jack Bowling - Oct 1st 2000 22:34:28
Just tried downloading all 0.94 archives in the sourceforge directory tree
and all of them give invalid end-of-file signatures. I downloaded in
binary format. Anybody else having problems?

server down? also, multiway chat
by reed - May 7th 2000 17:31:27
is the web page server down? i can't reach it.
also, gnomeicu does not do multi-way chat: realtime chat with more
than one person.
other than that, gnomeicu is a vastly superior icq client to most out
there.

Problems with newer gtk
by desertfool - Nov 18th 1999 22:27:38
Anyone else had problems with the newer gtk under gnome and panel? My panel
would disappear and re-appear several times, then segfault.

Yeah, I had this one try copying the GnomeICU
dir from /usr/local/share - /usr/share probably
not an ideal solution but it fixes the problem :)
