For both this and your aramanth icon set, gzip gives me the message,
gzip: steelicons-default-1.2.5.tar.gz: not in gzip format
gzip: amaranth-default-.6.tar.gz: not in gzip format
and the downloads did complete just fine.
I'm using RedHat 9.0 with gzip 1.3.3
Anyone else have this problem?

I also cannot unzip these files, using gunzip version 1.3.3 on a gentoo 1.4 system
