The freedesktop.org shared MIME database unifies the MIME databases used by GNOME, KDE, and ROX. This means that applications only have to modify one database on installation, and users have a single place to make changes that will affect all applications.

Release focus: Minor feature enhancements

Changes:
The type descriptions were made more consistent. Many new types were added. A package-config file was added. A new option for packagers disables the update of the database on install. New "az", "cy", and "no" translations were added.
