Zim on Windows XP
by rats54 - May 29th 2008 07:40:58
I use Zim on Debian and Ubuntu and like it a lot. However, I also have
Windows XP boxes on the LAN and I move around quit a bit. I want to
install Zim on the XP boxes, but the instructions on the website do not
seem to work or there is something missing. How can I get clear
instructions that work?
Thanks

by Pat Jr - Apr 26th 2008 07:52:42
Thank You for the fine program.
It simply feels right. I don't need spinning do hickeys and funny noises.
I need easy to use programs that do want I want and work for me.
Zim is in the 10 top of my list of favorite programs.
Good stuff! Thanks Again.

excellent work
by kris - Dec 14th 2007 16:18:28
Thank you for this wonderful program. I successfully compiled it on
windows using the instructions on the website. It'd be nice to have an
installer though.
I like that it's clean and simple yet it has all the features I need.
The thing that I like to have been improved is that if the linked text can
be formatted (larger/bold/italic..etc).
One problem I have when I run zim on Windows is the ms command window that
always comes up and can't be closed without exiting the program. Is there
a solution?

Information request
by Martin - Jul 24th 2007 00:10:03
It would be nice if you could provide us with more information about how to
create a plugin.
Also, is it possible to export pages as XML?

Developer docs are not packaged in the releases, but have a look at the
docs on the website or checkout the code repository.

No at the moment but it is somewhere on the TODO list.

An excellent tool
by edwardfordfay - Apr 19th 2007 08:54:48
I looked a very long time for a tool like Zim and am now quite happy to
have found it. I've been using it daily for the past two months. It has
greatly improved my productivity both at the office and in my personal
studies.
My previous note taking/personal knowledge base strategy relied on
emacs/gedit and a directory of loosely associated text files. Needless to
say, it was a chaotic mess.
Zim has rectified that situation. These are its greatest strengths:
- very clean and intuitive interface
- easy manipulation of name spaces
- easy navigation between pages. The Ctrl-J feature let's me hop around as
quickly as my thoughts change
- my notes are not locked into a strange data format. I can take my entire
~/zim repository anywhere at anytime to be manipulated by any other number
of programs.
The last point above was of perhaps the greatest importance to me.
thank you gain for this delightful program
EF Fay
