About:
httptype reads a list of http hosts and optionally the port number for each of these. It queries each host, displaying the type of HTTP server running on that host, if any. It reads the http_proxy and no_proxy environment variables to determine whether to use a proxy or not. These options may also be specified through the command line.
Release focus: Major feature enhancements
Changes:
1.3.8 is now stable. --showreal and --showip options were added to
display the real hostname and IP address of the host and to check
whether the real hostname can be identified or not. This caused
problems in previous releases if DNS didn't work. Better tracing is
now done with the --trace switch. An option for timing out while
checking hosts, a check for Servlet-Engine as well as Server, and an
option to pass a URL instead of a host and port have been added. A
user may now specify a hostfile, a URL, and a host:port on the
commandline; all are considered. getopt is now used to parse
arguments. Other minor fixes have been made.
